What makes for a Facebook friend, anyway?

In facebook, you have many friends (assuming it)? 100? 500? 1000? How much is much?

Night, the host (Jimmy Kimmel) cite an example, if you have exceeded a thousand, maybe it is time to start "cutting life has nothing to do with your friend."

Facebook The blog owner on Wednesday night are being attracted Kimmel's monologue. "I saw thousands of people will netizen called 'friends'," which is impossible, Kimmel insisted. "You can not have 1,000 friends."

How do you distinguish a Facebook friend or a true friend? Kimmel said, this is very simple. "For example, on Friday, updates about the state, this week I move, need help." Who respond to you, who is your friend, others are not. "

Or, there are other examples of this: "You have a special relationship with a friend, he certainly did not ask you what Harry Potter character is kind of that person."

In Kimmel's rhetoric, he indicates that there will be a new holiday: "National cancellation friend Day" on November 17.

"Friendship is sacred," Kimmel said (he half-jokingly said), "I believe Facebook is ruined it."

In fact, the size of the circle of friends on Facebook is to have clear boundaries, Facebook will retain 5000 friends for you - this is purely a cause of back-end technology, like the New York Times pointed out, not a network administrator feel your definition of "friend" too loose.

However, 1000 is absolutely impossible to have a friend, Kimmel dubious to say?

Yes, according to evolutionary anthropologist Robin Dunbar (Robin Dunbar) wrote an article in the London Times, "our brains do not have enough space, we can only build a strong friendship with a handful of people."

In fact, "150 Christmas cards, which is the average number of people you send a card." Dunbar said.

150 friends, is not it? Well, my friends in Facebook over the Dunbar limit. It seems some of you people have to go.

Of course, this little debate forces us to ask: What is a Facebook friend? Our "friends" can only be real friends - such a person, "his relationship with you involves trust and responsibility," which has some history, not just a name or number, as observers Dunbar friends earlier definition.

Or Facebook friends in are: address book name, face or close friends or acquaintances numbers?

You say it is not.

Google Adsense secrets

Google Adsense secrets
(Chapter 1 - How to earn money through Google AdSense)

How to use Google Adsense earn more money

Google the website you just want a small part of the flow. And they are willing to pay this small part of a large sum of money flow! For those who have complained about their low-income high-flow regulators were, however, there is no better than this simpler approach to the visitors from those who mean a profit there.

Adsense and make it easier!

You do not have to install complex software, no need to investigate the source of visitors, do not have to buy anything, not even a bank account are not to. Well ....... Why is not everyone using adsense to make money at it? In fact, the key problem is that not everybody would know how to use Adsense to earn money.

The money hidden in a place you can not see

People say "seeing is believing." Most of the regulators keen to track web visitors, countless times every day to see revenue and click-through rate. They like to see things at hand, but often overlooked not get anything but accessible. Adsense will not allow yourself to choose the content of ads, display ads will not tell you the law, nor will it tell you How much each click. But this is a good thing, because you can save a lot of trouble. (It does provide some control functions, in this book I will teach you how to use these resources to better control of Adsense.)

But still think a lot of head once put Adsense code into the page, you can do on the left with a wait and see. The original truth is not so! Google provides you a lot of features to control the ads, especially since some of the graphics and visualization table. Make good use of these resources, you can easily put you within minutes of the click-through rate over a good many times.

My Adsense Experience

I was in June 2003 from the beginning of the use of Adsense, at first only on some pages put in a few Adsense ads. Ending the first day, I already have thousands of Adsense display, bringing a total of ..... 3 dollars of revenue. My anger was almost burned the house a torch. At that time even though I did not see what there is potential for Adsense, but I want to put it to more page also do no harm. A few months later, my Adsense impressions increased 25 times, the income is still no change. That is my web ads as a publisher when the lowest. My click-through rate is too low, and required several thousand visitors every day in order to earn 30 U.S. dollars. At that time on, I can no longer think this way - the need to change some things! 4 at the end of 2004 - after ten months of my Adsense register - has been finally found something overlooked. It was an exciting time, I feel like the same eyes opened suddenly. So I immediately started experimenting with my Google ads to try a variety of ad placement and color to see the validity of my mind.

With the results quickly - and simply wonderful!

I just used some very simple methods (after the introduction will be), they click-through rate increased nearly threefold, while the revenue to improve 600 U.S. dollars / day. I still remember that in April 2004 golden days - for me all the bad luck the past have ended. Adsense me from a nobody to become a guide in this area, and now have 5-digit monthly Adsense income will not let me surprised. This is a full of study and experience the wonderful journey.

Adsense detail-driven

Earned so much money is an easy and exciting things. But I have never to ignore the details, make big money from Adsense is to rely on a number of seemingly insignificant details. Every Adsense publisher knows, when the end of the day when everything comes down to one thing: statistics! Report of Adsense you may be not surprising, but a carefully cultivate a good habit of reading statements is very important. When you start from these small numbers read out the significance of the time, the check will soon be coming.

On the data shown are the Internet marketing legend classic.

This is a one of my recent Adsense statistics page screenshot, map all the data are real. You can see me every day of income, but the CPM and CTR and other specific data are shielded, as in accordance with the terms of Google, I can not open them. Adsense big hair Choi! As you can see, Adsense today to buy a car be able to pay my bills, my housing loan, my Internet access costs, a lot of much.

You not want to know .......

Me what have they done for my website overnight into a money-spinner? ! This is not important, it is important that you want to understand what you are now able to do once the means of getting rich through Adsense.

My proposal is very simple ...

Not to passively accept your Adsense income now, and now begin efforts to improve it. But you start at the application of those found from the forum before the new method, please note that we must first know Google Adsense Terms of Use. Total, some web publishers lost their huge Adsense checks, simply because they do not have the time too busy to pay attention to those who are most of the foundation, but also the terms of life and death of Adsense.

I enjoy the game in accordance with the rules, very carefully to ensure that those who used their own Adsense tips and tricks are in the framework of the rules permit. Now that can earn from Adsense so much money, there will always be some "blinded by greed," a provocative ideas go my transgressions, and to do so will only result in my Adsense account was. For many web publishers, Adsense is like a can under the goose that laid golden eggs, you carefully take care of the geese - another quick success and instant benefits for temporary awaygood.

I love the dollar

Last week I wrote that the IMF and many other economists had predicted that the unwinding of “global imbalances” might lead to a global slowdown or recession. The short version of the story is that any slowing of US demand for imports would not be met by a pick up in domestic demand in trade surplus countries. The impact of any such slowdown in global demand would be a reduction in global growth.
But one element of the story that has not been borne out is that part of this global rebalancing requires a fall in the US dollar. Rogoff and Obstfeld for example predicted that the USD would need to fall by 30% as part of this rebalancing in their baseline scenario. The logic is that USD depreciations are required to close up the US trade deficit and improve US competitiveness. So currently either one of two things are true. 1) as ever, it is foolish to predict anything other than a random walk for the exchange rate. or 2) the “flight to safety” currently supporting the USD is crazy, and the USD is heading for a sharp fall. Twenty years of empirical research is consistent with 1), though inconsistent with the idea of a strict random walk is the idea that the exchange rate does tend (eventually) towards a long run fundamental value. In the case of the USD/AUD the fundamental is probably in the 70 to 75c range, suggesting that the flight to safety view is causing the AUD to be undervalued. But it’s well to remember that exchange rate fads can last a long time - remember US Treasury Secretary Rubin’s “strong dollar?” Or the fact that last year the AUD was inevitably heading for parity with the USD - at least I steadfastly stuck to my trusty random walk forecast…it doesn’t work that well, but better than any other forecast!

Plot summary
The story takes place in a time when the Spanish adventurers known as Conquistadors roamed the New World of the Americas in search of the mythical gold treasures of the dethroned Native Americans.
Estéban is a teenage cartographer of the Spanish Conquistador Army. The story starts in his jail cell, where he is awaiting trial for tax evasion. More specifically, he is suspected of finding a treasure without submitting the Quinto Real, also known as the “King’s Fifth”, a tax levied by the King of Spain on precious metals.
However, every authoritative figure in his trial or his jail only really wants one thing - to get Estéban to reveal the location of the gold he found. Estéban agrees to draw his jail guard a map, but uses the provided writing materials to write a secret journal. In this journal Estéban describes how he joined a small army band of Spaniards to seek the “Seven Golden Cities of Cíbola”. Their guide on this dangerous journey was a volunteering younger teenage Native American girl, Zia. She was brought along by Estéban, who met her while in the army from which the band was divided. Being the only one in the group without any political agenda (although Estéban does realize her personal agenda eventually), Zia was also the only one to eventually preserve both her life and freedom.

Characters
Estéban de Sandoval - a teenage mapmaker to the expedition
Zia Troyano - a younger teenage Native American guide
Captain Blas de Mendoza (very loosely based on Antonio de Mendoza) - an aristocrat in search of gold
Father Francisco - a priest to the expedition who joined as a missionary and an explorer
Roa and Zuñiga - an initially comedy duo who are Mendoza’s cronies

Adaptations

TV series
The book was the inspiration for the 1982-1983 anime cartoon TV series The Mysterious Cities of Gold. The characters take their names from the book, the high-level quest is the same, and the “golden lake” scene from the book is also present in the cartoon, but the similarities end there (the cartoon has motifs of fantasy and science fiction). The cartoon is set in South America, whereas the expedition in the book explores California, in North America.

Matching characters
Esteban - Child of the Sun, sneaking aboard a ship from Spain to the New World to search for his long-lost father
Zia - an Incan teenager, kidnapped to and then from Spain, in order to be a guide to her home village
Mendoza - a wily adventurer who arrived in the Americas by becoming a navigator on the ship to the New World
Father Rodriguez - raised Esteban in a Spanish monastery (only shown in the first episode)
Sancho and Pedro - a comedy duo who are Mendoza’s cronies. They also have very similar names to the name of the ship in the book, the Santa Pedro.

Choose Your Own Adventure book
The book is also a slight influence in the Choose Your Own Adventure Time Machine’s 1987 book Quest for the Cities of Gold, as the reader meets Esteban at different points.

Investment in gold

I just wanted to do a quick post on gold today. I'm still see incredible bullishness in the gold bug camp.
I think most inflationists assume the incredible expansion of the Fed's balance sheet is going to immediately lead us into a hyper inflationary environment.
While I agree that this will be the eventual outcome and this is exactly the unintended consequences that are going to result from the Fed's current actions I don't think it's going to happen quickly.
I have a feeling all the gold bugs loading up on gold right now are going to be too early and probably end up selling at the exact bottom.
I'll remind everyone that the main source of demand for gold is jewelry. I don't see that demand skyrocketing in a deflationary environment or with unemployment over 10% (where I expect we will be at some point this year). Actually if unemployment were still calculated in the same way it was several years ago we probably already have over 10% unemployment.
There will come a time to buy gold and silver again but I think it's probably still too early at this point

Gary: fwiw, from Flecks site from a knowledgeable subscriber -
Another "technical" tidbit: As you know, I've been technically bearish on Gold for some time now and the picture remains negative. We've seen four lower tops in the metal at 1000, 975, 910, and lately 875. Each of these peaks have been accompanied by valid "sell" signals in March '08, July '08, October '08, and again last week - Jan '09. All of these trading tops have taken place within the confines of a primary bear market profile for the metal - AT LEAST IN DOLLAR TERMS. The charts look more bullish when measured in assorted other currencies. The point being that the dollar-gold relationship is well established - for holders of dollar denominated assets.
The big problem for me is the fact that our US Dollar toilet paper remains superior to the other toilet paper currencies, with minor exceptions like the Yen. However, as some of your readers have pointed out, we may not be in very good shape but in the brave new world where the term "absolute" has been banished in favor of "relative" in all things financial, continued dollar strength can not be bullish for the dollar denominated gold price. Maybe this is what the chart is trying to tell us.
A final note: the "seasonally bullish time for gold is traditionally from about October into early Spring. If we're seeing weakness this early in the "season", maybe that's another warning sign. In any case, if this down trend continues into the weak season this Spring and Summer, the major support level for the metal looks like about 600 plus or minus.
